With the birth of my feisty, frivelous, fun-loving flamingo friend, I learned what my travels were missing, and that was more adventure, connection, and fantasy. Floyd will bring this to us as he brings adventure, laughter and ..
He will bring those to us.
I'm Bree, and this is how my journey began.
I grew up in a quiet town of just 600 people in Canada, where life was predictable, safe, and comfortably familiar. Yet, I always had the feeling that there was something more, something else meant for me. Then, fifteen years ago, I got my first taste of travel, and everything changed. A fire ignited within me, a longing for something beyond routine, beyond expectation. I knew, without a doubt, that travel was the longing I had been looking for—but my mindset made me believe that it was meant to be an occasional indulgence, something reserved for fleeting escapes when work and responsibilities allowed.
So, I found a way to bring the world to me. I opened a bed & breakfast, welcoming travelers from near and far, soaking in their stories and experiences. It had its perks, and I had no regrets—but deep down, I was compromising by being an observer. I wasn’t living my own travel experiences or creating my own memories.
Then, what seemed to come out of nowhere, fate intervened. It hit me like a shock, like my world was caving in. I had not yet realized what a blessing in disguise the crumbling of my world would become. My business and relationship came to an almost immediate end, setting me on a new path—one I thought would be temporary. Three months, I told myself. Three months of travel before returning to finalize my business and close the chapter on my past. But time had other plans. What began as a short escape stretched into seven consecutive years—a whirlwind of movement, reinvention, and unexpected discoveries.
With little money and no travel partner, I had to adapt. I learned to stretch every dollar, navigate foreign lands solo, and find family and friendship in strangers. Every challenge tested my resilience, and every destination unlocked a lesson and a layer, shaping me in ways I never anticipated.
Travel became more than freedom—it became home. It was the exhilaration of wandering in hilltop villages, archaeological and natural wonders, trying to unlock the secrets hidden within their landscapes and histories. It was friendships forged across cultures, spontaneous celebrations under unfamiliar skies, and moments of awe that reminded me why I had chosen this path. With every journey, I felt more connected, more alive, and more certain that this is what I was meant to do.

Floyd is all about finding the best flamingo Flair and to dress to impress back home in the swamp. He regularly mentions how readers would love to go on a global shrimp cocktail tour but for now, he'll have to settle for . He says he needs variety from the swamp.
Fun fact, fables & flares. In the blog Floyd will share those with us.

W5 years or so into my solo travels, I was starting to feel a bit lonely and stopped doing some of the things that I used to love doing. I got complacent and l started to go places see them and leave as if I was checking off a box. I was underwhelmed by them of course, because I wasn't truly experiencing them. I guess you could say I got lazy. That child-like wonder that had first felt when travelling, had gone dormant. I contemplated during a long hike, why it had gone and what had changed, it made me reflect back to my childhood, when I had an insatiable appetite for all things new & exciting. I thought of family trips, like playing with dolphins and feeding tflamingos on a trip to the U.S Both had left an impression on me and I was fascinated by their playful, care free nature. Reflecting on those memories, I asked the universe to bring me a companion and more of those types of experiences.
I kept along on my hike, and after an hour or so, I heard footsteps on the path. Who could that be walking so close to me I thought, and when I turned around to see, it was much to my surprise, the universe had gifted me a friend indeed. Now, when I asked for a companion, I was thinking more along the lines of tall, dark and handsome. But instead got long-necked, pink & quirky.
This was how I found my flamingo, how he found me or I suppose we found each other. O

had a wonderfully frivelous imagination and could tell stories life no other flamingo. He was the entertainer always making others laugh. Floyd is fun, fearless, faithful, little feisty. And because he insisted, I must also mention that he is, undeniably, fabulous. and sharing fables. Floyd would spend time with other animals mastering their abilities. But he longed for more. He wanted to travel with a human. What are humans like,? I know they like beaches, mud baths and fishing too. They aren't so great at balance & standing on one leg, but maybe he could teach one how to balance if they could teach him something new. Maybe the human could teach him how to....?

This is us, the flamingo and the follower, and this journey is what we were meant to do.
Looking for support. Lonely. Companionship. Was thinking tall dark and handsome. Got tall, pink and quirky. Universe, please bring me someone to walk with me, make me laugh & entertain me & go on great adventures.
